This project was a personal study to further develop my environment art and visualization skills, with a focus on layout, set dressing, lighting, composition, look development, shading, and rendering. The goal was to create a warm, cozy children's bedroom illuminated by soft midday sunlight—a space inspired by the kind of room I would have dreamed of as a child. Visually, I aimed for a style somewhere between realism and a subtle Pixar-inspired stylization, combining believable materials with a slightly softened, inviting aesthetic.
One of the biggest challenges was finding the right balance between readability and authenticity. Children's rooms naturally contain a lot of visual information, toys, and little stories, so I wanted the space to feel lived-in and playful without becoming overly cluttered. The composition and lighting were carefully designed to guide the viewer's eye, emphasizing both the bed as the main focal point and the play area in the foreground. For the visual development, I studied a variety of product visualizations and interior design photography of children's bedrooms, analyzing how lighting, styling, and composition create an inviting atmosphere.
The furniture and prop models were not created by me, and I also started from existing base textures. I extensively refined the shaders and textures to achieve a cohesive visual style, creating additional hand-made assets where needed—such as the children's drawings and other small details—to strengthen the storytelling. I also groomed the rugs and the elephant plushie to give them a softer, more tactile appearance.
I used 3ds Max and V-Ray for this project, with Photoshop and Procreate used for texture creation and refinement.
I hope you enjoy exploring all the little details hidden throughout the room as much as I enjoyed bringing them to life!
